This is part 8 of ‘How I Learn English Language Efficiently‘ where we’ll be talking about how to turn your English learning goals and turning them into an action plan.
So, let’s go back to look at your reason for studying English, so we can then create your English learning plan. It’s really quite simple
To create your English learning plan, we’re going to use a technique called a ‘backward plan’. It’s a military technique used by generals to map out how to accomplish a mission.
And now, I want you to use the same technique to create your English learning plan so you can say, ‘I learn English Language efficiently‘.
I Learn English Language Efficiently – Planning For Success
Creating a backward plan is really simple. All you need is a blank sheet of paper. At the very top of the page, write down your final objective.
Then, imagine what you would do right before accomplishing your objective. Now write your answer down.
Next, imagine what you would be doing right before that step. And write that answer down.
Continue doing this until you’ve worked all the way back to where you are now.
Once you are finished, you will have created your plan and know exactly what to do to learn English.
You can do go back through a few times and write down anything else that comes to mind as you say to yourself, ‘I learn English language efficiently‘.
I Learn English Language Efficiently – Choosing Your Goals
Now, making a plan is easy. Staying on track can be hard. So, let’s choose your goals to help you stay on track
- Long-term Goal – This could be your final objective, but it should be something that you can do in 6 months
- Mid-term Goal – This would be something on your list that you think you can accomplish in 1 month
- Short-term Goal – This would be something that you could accomplish in about a week.
I Learn English Language Without Quitting
See, the problem is that studying English can be such a big goal that becomes almost overwhelming. It would be just like saying that you are going to walk from New York to California.
You could walk for 3 days and then give up because it seems so far away. You don’t see how far you’ve come.
It’s the same with learning English. You get tired and frustrated. Then you want to give up.
That’s why it’s important to set small goals you can hit along the way. These little goals will allow you to track your progress so you can say, ‘I learn English language efficiently‘.
I Learn English Language Efficiently By Reviewing Goals
Now, something that helps most people is to sit down once a week to review your goals. That way you remember what your goals are and remind yourself, ‘why I learn English language’.
You also see which goals you’ve hit. Then you can set new goals for the following week.
Once you hit you short-term goals then you set another one. Then, once you hit that goal, set another one. Continue doing this until you’ve hit them all…
And eventually reached your final goal…your final objective in learning English. Read the next lesson to discover how to put your plan into action like the mavens do.
